Personal Banker

Position Summary:
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing customer relationships by providing exceptional service, financial guidance, and tailored banking solutions to consumer and business customers. This position supports deposit account opening and maintenance, consumer loan requests, customer onboarding, account servicing, fraud prevention, and business development while ensuring compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Personal Banker serves as a trusted resource who helps customers make informed financial decisions and strengthens long-term relationships with Citizens First Bank.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Customer Care and Relationship Management. Serve as a primary point of contact for consumer and commercial customers, delivering friendly, relationship-focused service while assisting with account maintenance, product support, customer retention, and resolving complex account inquiries. Support debit card services, fraud prevention, disputes, stop payments, and other account-related operational needs with accuracy, professionalism, and effective follow-up.
  • Customer Onboarding and Deposit Relationship Growth. Open, maintain, and service a variety of deposit accounts while ensuring accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and customer understanding of account features, disclosures, and fraud prevention practices. Support deposit growth through relationship-building, proactive customer education, referrals, and quality control of account opening and closing processes.
  • Consumer Loans. Assist customers throughout the consumer lending process by accepting applications, gathering required documentation, reviewing loan requests for completeness, and supporting pre-approvals, closings, and loan inquiries. Provide credit education, conduct collateral research, support loan servicing activities, and connect customers with specialized banking solutions such as mortgage, commercial lending, and trust services when appropriate.
  • Product Education and Financial Guidance. Maintain strong knowledge of bank products, services, procedures, and market trends to effectively educate customers on available financial solutions. Identify customer needs and proactively recommend or cross-sell appropriate products and services through in-person interactions, phone outreach, written communication, and external calling efforts.
  • Reports, File Maintenance, and Operational Support. Maintain accurate records, documentation, reporting, and file maintenance activities while supporting account reconciliation, bookkeeping, IRA administration, and operational functions. Track production and referral activity, ensure regulatory and tax reporting accuracy, and participate in ongoing training to maintain compliance, knowledge, and service excellence.
  • Business Development. Develop and strengthen customer relationships through business development, referrals, community involvement, and customer coaching while meeting sales, deposit growth, and referral goals and professionally representing Citizens First Bank in the community.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, finance, banking, or a related field preferred.
  • Six months to one year of sales experience required, preferably with banking, financial services, or equivalent related products.
  • Prior experience in customer service, deposit account opening, consumer lending, retail sales, or banking operations preferred.
  • General knowledge of bank operations, procedures, deposit products, consumer loan products, and account maintenance practices helpful.
